How Sojourners’ Place serves our community
how we help residents
Here are two examples of how we help residents obtain the skills needed to find quality employment:
1. Our partnership with the Wilmington Housing Authority continues to flourish. Through WHA’s lead abatement and environmental safety training, our residents are gaining hands-on skills and certifications that put them on track for well-paying jobs. It’s been inspiring to watch our participants step confidently into opportunities in construction, housing inspection, and environmental safety. Each graduate finishes the course with a resume, personal budget, and long-term goal statement that reflects their hard work and vision for the future.
2. Through our relationship with the Food Bank of Delaware our residents are able to complete culinary arts training, opening up new employment opportunities.
Finding sustained employment is a key milestone in the advancement of our residents. This allows them to save money to obtain housing when they have completed all the needed steps to achieve self-sufficiency.
